Contrary to a wiki page, the blog page is a special form that enables you to publish a blog in your netcipia place. Here are a few tips to help you use this feature to its fullest:
1/ To create a new post, type the title of your post in the "Blog - New post" zone in the "Create" panel (right column). This will automatically create a post page.
Please note that the name of the post you have entered in the "Blog - New post" field will be used, stripped of any spaces or special characters removed, as part of the URL referring to the page. You may therefore prefer to use a simple post title at that level, and then, when editing the post itself, change to the full title you wish to use.
For example, in the "Blog - New post" area, type the title « Seinfeld”. Then once in the post, you can change the title to “Why I love Seinfeld”.
2/ In edit mode of a blog post, you will see that two areas are available, one named “content” for the regular content, and another one named "extract". If you write any text in the “extract” field, only this text will be displayed in the global page containing the list of your blogs. In that case, when a user clicks on the permalink of this blog, he will have access to the blog itself where the "content" field will be displayed.
If no text is typed in the “extract” field, a small part of the content field is displayed as the "extract" text in the blog page, with a "continue..." link giving access to the full text.
3/ You can assign a category to each of your posts. Currently, you cannot modify a category while typing a post. To modify a category, click on "Blog categories" in the left panel and edit its content. Please remember to save you post before doing this operation!
4/ Wysiwyg is currently not available while editing a post. We are working on it, and it will be available in a few weeks. In the meantime, you can use all the power of the wiki syntax. Please refer to the Wiki Syntax page. It’s quite easy to learn.
5/ If you want to display a picture within your post, don't forget to attach the picture(s) to the page before editing the page itself. You cannot attach a picture while in edit mode. To add a picture, once in viewing mode, go to the "attachment" tab at the bottom of the page. Once your picture is attached, return into edit mode, and insert the picture by using theproper wiki syntax where you want the picture to appear:
{image:picturefilename.gif}
{image:picturefilename.jpg}
etc.
6/ If you want to display a widget from an other website, such as a video and its player or any other HTML element, simply copy the HTML code from the source site and directly paste in in your page, where you want it to appear. This html code will be correctly interpreted by Netcipia after publication.
