Tip #4 - 1, 2 or 3 columns? How to change your place layout :-)

You can customize the layout of your Netcipia place by selecting the number of columns you want to use, and the content of these columns. Please note that you need to be logged on to you place with administrator privileges.

Standard 3-columns layout:

2-columns layout:

1-column layout:

To customize the layout:

Go to your preferences:

Click on “skin”:

You will then see a few fields that specify the columns layout and contents of your place.

Note the two fields containing the following text:

LeftPanels:
xwiki:Panels.Welcome,xwiki:Panels.Spaces,xwiki:Panels.BlogCategories,xwiki:Panels.Backlinks,xwiki:Panels.RecentlyCreated,xwiki:Panels.RecentlyVisited

RigthPanels:
xwiki:Panels.Search,xwiki:Panels.NewPage,xwiki:Panels.Toolbox,xwiki:Panels.InformationArea

The checkbox bellow these fields enable you to specify whether or not you want to display theses columns (for the time being LefPanels means left column, and RightPanels means right columns). Tip4-07.jpg

If you select a 2-column style, hiding the right or left “panel” (or column), you can still display the content that was inside the hidden column into the remaining column:

Full RightPanels or LeftPanels: xwiki:Panels.Welcome,xwiki:Panels.Spaces,xwiki:Panels.BlogCategories,xwiki:Panels.Backlinks,xwiki:Panels.RecentlyCreated,xwiki:Panels.RecentlyVisited,xwiki:Panels.Search,xwiki:Panels.NewPage,xwiki:Panels.Toolbox,xwiki:Panels.InformationArea

You can also display some of these panels individually. For example, if you want to display only the Search, Create and Toolbox panels in a column, simply add to the left or right panels (column) list: xwiki:Panels.Search,xwiki:Panels.NewPage,xwiki:Panels.Toolbox

The resulting Netcipia place layout will look something like this:

Once you are done customizing your place, simply click on "Save" to register your changes, and click on the Netcipia logo to return to your place's home page. You will then see your new layout :-)

Enjoy!

Thank you for listing the defaults on here! I made changes that I wanted to change back and bugger me if I could find the default code.
